CAPS BC x Chef’s Table Society of BCSpring Social + Book Drive The Commons by CTS

Spring is here—and we’re bringing the community together in one of the most exciting spaces for hospitality professionals in BC.

Join CAPS BC and the Chef’s Table Society of BC at The Commons by CTS—a purpose-built hub designed for our industry. Created as a space to study, connect, and grow, The Commons offers access to a curated food and wine library, with a vision to evolve into a dynamic venue for dinners, events, and ongoing collaboration.

At the core of the Commons lies an extraordinary hospitality industry reference library poised to become North Americas largest culinary and hospitality archive.

On Thursday, April 16th from 11:00am - 4:00pm, we’re turning it into the place to be.

Expect an afternoon filled with great wine, meaningful connections, and a room full of people who live and breathe this industry. Whether you’re catching up with familiar faces or meeting new ones, this is your chance to plug into the heart of BC’s hospitality community.

We’ll also be hosting a Wine Book Drive—a perfect fit for the space. An incredible resource for wine professionals who are studying, or even just looking to broaden their knowledge or brush up on some wine regions! Bring a gently used or new book to contribute to a growing collection.

    What’s in store:

    • An exclusive evening inside The Commons by CTS
    • Wine, conversation, and connection with BC’s hospitality community
    • A chance to contribute to a meaningful, industry-focused book drive
    • Come for the wine, stay for the people—and experience a space built for the future of our industry.

Bring a book. Bring your crew. Let's kick off the season!

On Tuesday, April 21st, Unsworth Vineyards, in partnership with The Vancouver Club and the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers – BC Chapter, will host an in-depth exploration of Cowichan Valley terroir at The Georgian Room.

To our knowledge, there has never been a Vancouver seminar dedicated exclusively to single-vineyard expressions from the Cowichan Valley, examined side by side and presented by both the winemaker and viticulturist responsible for their evolution.

Winemaker Dan Wright and Viticulturist Felix Egerer, moderated by Marketing Director and MW Student Chris Turyk, will lead a focused technical tasting exploring site, variety, and growing season dynamics across multiple vineyard sources. The session will examine soil composition, mesoclimate variation, clonal material, and farming decisions — and how these variables translate into structural and aromatic differentiation in the glass.
